“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
You. Are. Good. Not because of anything we’ve done but entirely because of what Christ has done for us and bestowed upon us. You are God’s workmanship, his handiwork and as the saying goes: “God doesn’t make junk.” So if we are his work, and we have been brought back into right relationship with him through Christ, then I guess we are good; just like God said way back in the garden of Eden.
In fact, you were the one thing in the creation story that God said was “very good.” (Gen 1:31)
The challenge we have is walking in our new identity. We come to Christ and often don our new identity like a cloak instead of realising our being has been transformed from the inside out. A cloak you take off and on depending on how you feel and what you need.
You being good is a fundamental aspect of your new nature in Christ, because Christ lives in you. This isn’t about how you feel or what you’ve done, it’s an adjustment of the starting point of everything in your life. You now start from an “I am good” place.
