For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:14-19 ESV
Paul prays that we wouldn’t just know the love of God but that we would be “filled with all the fullness of God.” If there’s anything we can instantly understand about God is that He has always been overflowing in his goodness.
Being ‘filled’ in the greek here means: to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally. You are called to know the love of God that surpasses knowledge in a manner that abounds liberally in your life. As Jesus says in Matthew 10:7-8 NIV “proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
Have you received love from God? Then be filled with all the fullness of God and overflow to those around you. Have you received power to overcome? Then be filled to overflow and pray for those around you. You are called, not just to know, but to overflow.
