“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”
Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV
God brings us together from all different walks of life to display His splendour. He removed the barriers and the new you is part of the family. Have you ever needed a sister? She’s right beside you in your lifegroup. Have you ever needed a father? He’s right behind you in this Sunday’s service.
Hesitant to sound too much like Dom Toretto but; family looks after one another. Family need one another. Family is stronger together. We won’t be fighting submarines or launching a car into space but we will change tires for one another, help mow lawns, move house, sit and listen in difficult seasons, be a shoulder to lean on and a voice of reason when we’re in chaos.
The beauty with this family is that there’s no hierarchy: Jesus is the cornerstone, not a pastor or preacher. The challenge for us is that God can only dwell in a temple where the bricks say yes to linking arms and having others stand on our shoulders. Who can you be a brother to this week? Who can you be a mother to?
